    Bar Scholar Reception

    Tuesday, November 10, 2009 5:30pm - 7 pm

    Hosted by K & L Gates
    925 Fourth Avenue, Suite 2900
    Seattle, WA 98104

King County Bar Foundation (KCBF) is one of the largest providers of scholarships for minority law students in the state of Washington. In 2008/2009, $112,500 was distributed to the University of Washington and Seattle University law schools for this purpose. More than 500 students have benefited from this program since it began in 1970 and more than 50% of these exceptional students are now practicing in King County.

On Tuesday, November 10th, KCBF will honor its minority law student scholarship recipients at the annual Bar Scholar Reception. All current and past scholarships recipients are invited to attend the event hosted this year by the law firm of K&L Gates. The evening provides an opportunity for KCBF trustees and other practicing attorneys to mingle with a number of the attorneys who benefited from these scholarships in the past and to meet the current recipients.

This year, KCBF has extended a special invitation to law firm hiring managers, corporate counsel recruiters, and minority bar leaders. KCBF realizes that the Bar Scholar Reception is a great place to introduce hiring professionals and bar associations to a new emerging group of young professionals in the legal community.

The minority law student scholarships given annually by KCBF represent one aspect of its three-pronged mission to increase diversity in the legal profession. The three-fold agenda is to: increase the pool of students of color entering law school, provide financial assistance to minority law students, and increase retention of minority lawyers in King County law offices.
